Interlink Supplies is a good start. There are others like JonDon, as well.

There are many distributers online. Look up Interlink Supplies. They're pretty reputable in the industry. Good luck.

It's no secret that the NYS Hudson Valley region has been hit pretty hard by this economic downturn. With massive lawoffs at the IBM facilities in Dutchess County, and the closing of dealerships at both Chrysler and GM throughout New York State, many of our Hudson Valley residents are finding themselves deep in debt and newly unemployed. In addition, some of New Yorks hardest working people have also seen their life savings swindled away by ponzie schemes. So i'd like to start a spirited yet respectful dialogue here about some of issues and experiences our Hudson Valley residents are dealing with during this economic downturn. I'd also like anyone who might have any helpful idea's to post them here.
Ok Hudson Valley, let's hear your stories.................

How much chemical you would need for a 9X12 area of carpet depends on several factors. One factor to look at is how heavily soiled is the carpet you're trying to clean. Naturally a lightly soiled carpet would require less solution than a heavily soiled carpet. Another factor to address is the manufacturers dilution ratio on the label of the product you've chosen to work with. Another factor is the cleaning method you'll be using. If you're using the hot water extraction (AKA steam cleaning) method, you'll need more solution than if you were performing a lower moisture method such as encapsulation.
I'll assume that if you've already chosen a specific product, you've also done your due dilligence to ensure that anyone who will be remotely close to the cleaning area is not allergic to your product of choice. I hope i've been of help to you.
Good Luck,

According to the IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) and by independent 3rd party testing conducted by the CRI-SOA (Carpet and Rug Institute Seal of Approval), the best method for residential carpet cleaning is hot water extraction (AKA Steam Cleaning) using a truck mounted system operated by a Certified Technician. Magic Carpet Express Co is an IICRC Certified Firm, and a CRI-SOA approved service provider. We use powerful truckmounted hot water extraction systems. Our cleaning professionals all hold multiple certifications by the IICRC. We proudly serve the NYS Hudson Valley region.

The term "Steam Cleaning" has been misused in our industry for a very long time. Although many truckmounted cleaning machines can generate water temperatures of up to 240 degrees farenheit, the water never actually changes its state from a liquid to a gas. This is because the machine's pump also pressurizes the water in excess of 400 psi as it heats it. It's a common fact that water will boil at 212 degrees farenheit only if it is at an ambiant pressure equal to sea level which is approximately 14.7 psi. Therefore as the ambiant pressure rises, so does the flashpoint of the water. This also works in reverse, meaning that if the ambiant pressure is negative or below sea level, the flashpoint will be lower.  So to clarify, the correct industry term is "Hot Water Extraction", not steam cleaning. It works by mixing a  cleaning detergent with very hot water, as it is sprayed on the carpets. It is then immediately extracted from the carpet along with the embedded soils and allergens through the use of a  powerful wet vacuum system.

"Not one particular cleaning product can be concidered the best for every application. A cleaning product should be selected by it's ability to efficiently and successfully do the job for which it is intended. For instance, if you are intending to clean a delicate wool area rug, you would not use a high ph degreaser type cleaning product, because it would damage the rug. On the other hand, if you are intending on cleaning the carpet in a restaurant which has substancial grease build up, a high ph prespray would be a better choice for that application, followed by low ph neutralizing rinse to prevent rapid resoiling. In any event, an IICRC certified cleaning professional should be consulted whenever a question arises.
